How are dermal fillers different from BOTOX®?

Although dermal fillers and BOTOX® are both administered through injections, they are not the same thing. The goal of a dermal filler is to add volume and fullness to certain facial areas, while BOTOX is primarily used to block nerve signals in your muscles.

How Do They Work?

Dermal fillers smooth out wrinkles and restore lost volume in your face; they’re helpful in giving you more youthful facial contours, even when your face is at rest. And their results can last for several months!

BOTOX minimizes the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles by paralyzing the muscles that allow you to frown or squint. Its effects can also last for several months; once your body breaks down the toxin, your muscle function returns, and you’ll need to come back for another treatment.

Both dermal fillers and BOTOX are non-invasive and can be used by most patients; you won’t have to worry about missing work, so they’re both great alternatives to surgery.
