Years of grinding and a deep bite had caused significant wear and chipping on this patient's upper and lower front teeth. His bite was so closed that his teeth were continually rubbing together, leading to ongoing damage and an uneven appearance. In addition to the cosmetic concerns, he was also experiencing airway issues due to a narrow upper arch and limited tongue space.
To address the root cause of the problem, treatment began with in-office clear aligners to widen the upper arch and correct his bite. This phase of treatment took approximately 18 months and not only repositioned his teeth but also created more room for his tongue and improved his airway.
Once his bite was in the ideal position, we completed his smile makeover by placing full-coverage crowns on the front four upper teeth and front four lower teeth. The goal was to restore the chipped and worn edges while keeping his smile natural and harmonious with the color of his existing teeth.
The entire transformation took about two years from start to finish, but the result was well worth the journey. This patient now has a healthier bite, improved function, better airway support, and a natural-looking smile that will protect his teeth for years to come.
